January can feel like a lot.

You’re not alone, here’s a few tips for you and your little one to ease into January…

January can feel like a lot…
.
Sleep might have taken a tumble,
Routines might be all over the place,
Your toddler might be super clingy
The return to nursery or school might be tricky
.
Meanwhile, your exhausted after a busy few weeks of keeping lots of plates spinning
The house looks like it’s been turned upside down
Your craving some time for yourself
All whilst being bombarded with social media posts about new year, new you…
.
What you need is to be kind to yourself and take things slowly. We all take time to adjust back to our usual routines in January, children and parents alike.
.
A few things to try to help you and your little one ease into January…
.
  • Offer some focused 1:1 time – just 10-15 minutes can help them feel reconnected and calm. Going back to nursery/school can be quite a shock after a few weeks of lots of attention and stimulation!
  • If naps have gone wonky have a few quieter days at home and focus on timings
  • If bedtime has got later, gradually shift it forward by 15 mins every few days, and wake them at their ‘normal’ wake up time. Shift mealtimes back to the usual time
  • Try and get outside for some fresh, even if it’s just a quick 20 mins walk
  • Be kind to yourself, it takes time to adjust

Testimonials

The Family Network had the pleasure of inviting Emma a professional child sleep coach to our London HQ earlier this week.

Emma delivered a thoroughly interesting 45-minute presentation, followed by a Q&A session. Her presentation delved into the factors impacting children’s sleep patterns. We learned how to address sleep issues and implement effective sleep routines for not only our children, but the entire family.

Post-event feedback from attendees was extremely positive. Many attendees reported that they are intending to implement several of Emma’s recommendations. On this basis I am confident it was a helpful and well-received session.

Testimonials

Emma gave an insightful and practical talk to the sleep deprived parents of British Land.

As well as being clear on the foundations on how to set children up for a good night’s sleep, Emma also provided us with some really useful strategies and tips on how to deal with night and early morning wakings. Even just understanding what is normal for children of preschool / primary age and why they may struggle to get to (and stay) asleep was hugely helpful.

I expect many of us made some instant improvements to our bedtime routine as a result!

Testimonials

Little Happy Sleepers delivered a fantastic session on ‘Improving Sleep for the Whole Family’ as part of Addleshaw Goddard’s ‘Family Health Month’.

Emma shared some amazing tips and techniques to help children sleep better and for the whole family to feel more rested.

Emma’s delivery was clear, extremely helpful, and covered a range of useful methods to help sleep for all ages from toddlers through to teenagers. Judging by the number of follow up questions this is clearly an area of interest.

Thank you, Emma, for an excellent and informative session.
