My number one tip for beating summer holiday overwhelm for YOU and THEM…

Create a summer holiday week by week timetable…

6, 7 or 8 weeks, it’s a long time for all of us.

For parents the long summer holiday can feel overwhelming, but even more so for children who have little concept of time.

For the last few years I’ve created a week by week timetable for my girls. It really helps them to translate the concept of time into a visual format.

They can see how many days and weeks are left, and tick them off day by day. It provides a clear picture of what to expect, reducing uncertainty and anxiety.

It’s really helpful for younger children and for children (especially those who are neurodiverse) who thrive on routine and knowing what’s coming next.

You can also get your child involved in making the timetable.

We made a timetable on our blackboard, where will you create yours?

Testimonials

The Family Network had the pleasure of inviting Emma a professional child sleep coach to our London HQ earlier this week.

Emma delivered a thoroughly interesting 45-minute presentation, followed by a Q&A session. Her presentation delved into the factors impacting children’s sleep patterns. We learned how to address sleep issues and implement effective sleep routines for not only our children, but the entire family.

Post-event feedback from attendees was extremely positive. Many attendees reported that they are intending to implement several of Emma’s recommendations. On this basis I am confident it was a helpful and well-received session.

Testimonials

Emma gave an insightful and practical talk to the sleep deprived parents of British Land.

As well as being clear on the foundations on how to set children up for a good night’s sleep, Emma also provided us with some really useful strategies and tips on how to deal with night and early morning wakings. Even just understanding what is normal for children of preschool / primary age and why they may struggle to get to (and stay) asleep was hugely helpful.

I expect many of us made some instant improvements to our bedtime routine as a result!

Emma shared some amazing tips and techniques to help children sleep better and for the whole family to feel more rested.

Emma’s delivery was clear, extremely helpful, and covered a range of useful methods to help sleep for all ages from toddlers through to teenagers. Judging by the number of follow up questions this is clearly an area of interest.
